Employment and Skills Sector

What is the Employment and Skills Sector?

carleyrecruit.co.uk is primarily geared to vacancies within the publicly funded employment and skills sector.

This is made up of organisations which are contracted to deliver services on behalf of government departments and agencies to help long term unemployed people to return to work (sometimes referred to as "Welfare to Work"), and people who are in work to improve their skills and gain qualifications such as NVQs.

Government funders in this market include the Department for Work & Pensions (DWP), Learning & Skills Council (LSC - up to Sep 2010), The Skills Funding Agency (SFA - from Oct 2010), Welsh Assembly Government, Skills Development Scotland (SDS), Regional Development Agencies and local authorities. These funders operate a range of employment and skills related initiatives, including the Flexible New Deal, European Social Fund (ESF) Projects, Skills for Life, ESOL, Apprenticeships, and Train to Gain.

Typical employers in the employment and skills sector include training providers, charities and further education colleges.
